Cookie Policy

This policy explains how the Illinois Chamber of Commerce website uses cookies and similar
technologies. It describes what this site actually does — it is not a generic template, and we
update it when what we run changes.

What we use today

This website sets no advertising cookies. We do not use cookies to build a
profile of you, to follow you across other websites, or to sell or share personal information with
advertisers.

What the site does use falls into three groups: cookies that are strictly
necessary for a feature you are using, a record of your own choices that
stays in your browser, and two optional services — analytics and an
embedded map — that stay off until you allow them.

Your choices

The first time you visit, a notice offers three choices: Accept all,
Reject optional, and Manage preferences. Browsing, scrolling, or
closing the notice is not a choice. The optional services stay off until you make one.

You can change your choices at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of
every page, or from cookie settings on this page. Rejecting the
optional services, or switching one off later, stops it from then on. We remove the analytics
cookies and stored items this site can reach. We cannot delete cookies that another service has
set inside its own embedded frame, and we cannot recall information that has already been sent.

Your choice is kept in this browser, not on our servers. It records what you chose, when, and a
version number. We ask again after six months, and sooner if the optional services we use
change. A choice to reject optional services still stands when a service is added later; a choice
to allow analytics does not, and we ask again.

Shopping cart and checkout

If you add an item to your cart, our online store keeps a short-lived session so your cart
survives between pages and your order can be completed. This is essential to the store working at
all and cannot be switched off while you are shopping. It holds a reference to your cart, not your
payment details.

Payment

Card payments are processed by Authorize.net. When you submit a card, the details are sent from
your browser directly to Authorize.net, which returns a one-time token to us. Your full
card number never reaches Illinois Chamber servers and is never stored by us. Authorize.net
may set its own cookies as part of processing and fraud prevention, under its own privacy policy.

Analytics

With your permission we use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see which pages are visited and how quickly they load. They do not set
cookies. They run only after you allow analytics, and they stop when you withdraw that
permission.

The site can also run Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag
Manager. No measurement ID is set today, so neither one runs. If they are
switched on later they will load only for visitors who allow analytics, and they would set
first-party cookies (typically _ga and _ga_<id>) that distinguish
one browser from another. Switching them on changes what analytics does, so visitors who had
allowed analytics are asked again.

Embedded content

The Contact page includes a Google Map. Until you allow embedded
content, the page shows a placeholder with a button that loads the map for that view only and does
not save a preference. Loading the map lets Google set its own cookies under its own privacy
policy. Those cookies belong to Google, and this site cannot remove them.

Some links leave this website entirely, including member login and event registration. Those
services set their own cookies under their own policies.

How to control cookies

Use Cookie settings in the footer to review or change your choices. You can
also block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking the cookies described under “Shopping
cart and checkout” will stop the online store from working. Clearing your browser’s
stored data removes your saved choice, and the notice appears again on your next visit.
