Cookie Policy

This policy explains how the Illinois Chamber of Commerce website uses cookies and similar
technologies. It describes what this site actually does — it is not a generic template, and we
update it when what we run changes.

What we use today

This website currently sets no analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. We
do not use cookies to build a profile of you or to follow you across other websites, and we do not
sell or share personal information with advertisers.

The only cookies this site sets are strictly necessary ones, described below,
and they are set only when you use the feature that needs them.

Shopping cart and checkout

If you add an item to your cart, our online store keeps a short-lived session so your cart
survives between pages and your order can be completed. This is essential to the store working at
all and cannot be switched off while you are shopping. It holds a reference to your cart, not your
payment details.

Payment

Card payments are processed by Authorize.net. When you submit a card, the details are sent from
your browser directly to Authorize.net, which returns a one-time token to us. Your full
card number never reaches Illinois Chamber servers and is never stored by us. Authorize.net
may set its own cookies as part of processing and fraud prevention, under its own privacy policy.

Analytics — not currently active

We intend to use Google Analytics 4, deployed through Google Tag Manager, to understand which
pages are useful and where visitors have trouble. This is not running yet. When it
is switched on, it will set first-party Google Analytics cookies (typically _ga and
_ga_<id>) that distinguish one browser from another and measure how the site is
used. We will update this policy at that point.

Embedded and third-party content

Some pages embed content from other services, and some link out to systems the Chamber uses but
does not host — including member login and event registration. Those services set their own
cookies and are governed by their own privacy policies, not this one. Following a link to them
takes you outside this website.

How to control cookies

Because this site sets only strictly necessary cookies, there is no consent banner to dismiss.
You can still block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking the
cookies described under “Shopping cart and checkout” will prevent the online store from
working.
