workers' compensation
Pam Holleman, our HR
Information Manager, shares some of your recent questions on the
subject of workers' compensation:
- When is an employee eligible for TTD
benefits?
- Can the employer
designate what doctor an employee sees for a workers’ compensation
injury?
- Is the company
required to pay an employee for time off during the workday to go
to the doctor for a work related injury?

OSHA reminds employers to
post injury/illness summaries beginning
02.01.08
The Occupational Safety and Health
Administration reminds employers that beginning Feb. 1, 2008, they
must post a summary of the total number of job-related injuries and
illnesses that occurred during 2007. Employers are required to post
OSHA Form 300A (summary). The 2007 summary must be
posted from Feb. 1 to April 30,
2008.
"The OSHA 300 logs provide employers and employees a
broad view of where injuries and illnesses are occurring at their
worksites," stated Assistant
Secretary of Labor for OSHA Edwin G.
Foulke, Jr. "Identifying and posting
injury and illness information
provides employers and employees with useful information to help
ensure a more safe and healthful workplace." Read

US Census Bureau urges
you to participate
The due date for 2007
Economic Census forms is only a few days away, February 12,
according to the US Census Bureau. If your
business received a form, the law (Title 13, U.S. Code)
requires that you complete and return it. (If your
business is a very small and you did not receive a
form, no action is required.)
Commerce Department Secretary Carlos
Gutierrez calls answering the Economic Census "an act of corporate
good citizenship". The Fed's Ben Bernanke calls the census
"indispensable" and adds "returning your economic census form helps
us all."
If your company still has the 2007
Economic Census, fill it out and send it in today. You can get
help with your paper form, or even file your information
online, at www.census.gov/econhelp.
