Coalitions - Legal Reform
The Illinois Campaign for Legal Reform is a project of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR). This campaign has been established to provide you with the latest information on activities and events related to our goal of reforming Illinois' legal system. Illinois can't afford the high price of lawsuit abuse -- and that's why we are working to bring sensible legal reform!
The Illinois Civil Justice League, created in late 1992, currently represents more than 500,000 Illinois residents directly, and additional hundreds of thousands indirectly. Members and supporters include many of the major business and professional associations and societies in Illinois.
Business associations which belong or work with the ICJL include the National Federation of Independent Business; the Illinois Manufacturers' Association; the Illinois Chamber of Commerce; and the Illinois Retail Merchants Association. These associations by themselves represent more than 500,000 Illinois workers.
The American Justice Partnership is a national nonprofit coalition of leading corporations, think tanks, foundations, trade associations, individuals and organizations advocating for legal reform at the state level.
The organizations comprise a diverse group of independent organizations, each with its own mission and governance structure. They have in common, however, that they each focus on various aspects of legal reform. Some undertake public education or research programs, while others meet with government officials to advocate for specific reform measures. Each has its own role to play in keeping with its mission and charter. Members include the Illinois Civil Justice League, Illinois Chamber of Commerce, and Illinois Manufacturer's Association, along with dozens of other state and national legal reform organizations.
