About the Economic Development Council

Council members focus on public policy, economic analysis and manufacturing issues including job creation and maintenance and job quality. They also examine existing and emerging policies for their potential impact on Illinois business.

Recent actions:

• commissioned a Cost of Doing Business productivity indicator, monitoring the relationship between changes in the cost of doing business in Illinois and changes in the state’s overall productivity
• presented its second annual Cost of Doing Business in Illinois study results in regional meetings hosted throughout the state by area economic development agencies
• hosted a Manufacturing Conference for Central Illinois manufacturers and industrial growth agencies in Peoria
• overseeing preparation of an Illinois economic scorecard
